The Story County Genealogical Society has helped purchase many genealogy titles for the Ames Public Library.

This is a list of over 900 titles housed in the Genealogy Reference Collection at the Ames Public Library (Ames, Iowa).

The list is available below in either a pdf version or spreadsheet.  The spreadsheet version includes the author and year the title was added to the collection (not the year of publication).

Ames Public Library  In addition to the genealogy section, the Ames Pubic Library has city directories for Ames and Story County.  Provides access to HeritageQuest Online and Persi. Also has a subscription to Family Tree Magazine and Internet Genealogy. The Ames Public Library has a complete set of city directories from 1950 and some earlier years.  There is a complete set of Ames telephone directories. and local newspapers are available on microfilm.  (Later issues have been indexed.)  You'll also find a set of yearbooks from Ames High School.

The Ames Public Library is also home to the Farwell T. Brown Photographic Archive, a collection of original photographs, postcards, advertisements, and news articles which chronicle the history of Ames, Iowa.  This collection, searchable by keyword, can be viewed online.
